Like many others, I am deeply amazed by all things of Ancient Egypt.
Last night I was watching a programme about a mummy that resides in Belfast, called Takabuti
It was a fascinating TV show, though I had mixed feelings watching it.
Part of me wishes the mummies could have been left to rest in peace, but another part understands how they would have been lost for all time, simply stolen by grave robbers and traded at the “mummy markets” of the 1800s.

Swiss researchers have succeeded in mummifying a body part using the salty recipe of the ancient Egyptians.
The experiment, which has been running for more than four months, takes inspiration from a 1994 study by Ronald Wade, director of Maryland’s State Anatomical Board, and Bob Brier, one of the leading experts on mummies and Egyptology.

Ancient Egyptian wall paintings provide a fascinating glimpse into the past. In tombs it was the painter’s task to preserve the dead individual’s spirit. Most tomb art generally followed consistent rules and held special meaning to the ancient Egyptians.

With the push of a button, the CT scanner whirred and lurched forward.
A centuries-old mummy was about to undergo a 21st-century medical examination.
In the name of art and science, the Bass Museum of Art in Miami Beach and Mount Sinai Medical Center in Aventura came together this month to examine the remains of a mummy recently rediscovered in the museum’s collection.

The earliest recorded pregnancy test has been found by archaeologists examining ancient Egyptian medical training documents using barley and wheat grains/seeds. The test dates from around 1350 B.C.E. Archaeologists found a hieroglyphic document that when translated described how to find out whether someone is pregnant. The woman who thinks she may be pregnant urinates on wheat and barley whole grains/seeds.
